These rays damage cells in the epidermis layer of the skin, causing inflammation and erythema (redness). In severe cases of sunburn, some areas of the skin may blister and peel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Causes Sunburn?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunburn is caused by overexposure of the skin to UV rays.
