Know Your Hazard Class

According to the LIST OF HAZARD CLASSES REGARDING OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY published in the Official Gazette dated March 29, 2013 and numbered 28602, all enterprises are divided into 3 classes as follows:

  • Less Hazardous Class: Office activities, retailing, hotels, schools, etc.
  • Hazardous Class: Footwear, furniture, detergents, meat production, dentistry, etc.
  • Very Dangerous Class: Construction sector, hospitals, petrol stations etc.

Dangerous / Very Dangerous Employers operating in the classes are obliged to provide continuous Occupational Safety Expertise, Workplace Medicine and Services to their employees as of 01 JANUARY 2014.

Less Dangerous As of 01 JANUARY 2013, all employers are obliged to prepare Risk Assessments, Emergency Plans and have their employees receive Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Basic Training from authorized OSGBs. Those who are in the less dangerous class and have 50+ employees are obliged to provide continuous Occupational Safety Expertise, Workplace Medicine and Services to their employees.
