During the cold winter months, it is especially important to protect the health of individuals working in closed workplaces. In the field of occupational health and safety (OHS), natural and supportive solutions are increasingly being adopted. In this study, the ingredients of traditional winter teas, their effects on health and how they can positively affect the performance of workers in workplaces are discussed from an academic perspective. In particular, the role of winter teas in strengthening the immune system, regulating digestion, reducing stress and improving overall health is evaluated. We discuss the potential benefits of promoting such natural supplements in the workplace on employees' health and productivity levels.

1. Introduction
In winter months, low temperatures and increased virus spread in closed environments increase the health risks of employees. Especially in environments such as offices, factories and closed production areas, the increase in cold and flu cases increases absenteeism rates and can disrupt business processes (Çetinkaya, 2020). Within the scope of occupational health and safety practices, various measures should be taken to support the health status of employees and to protect them from diseases. One of these measures is herbal winter teas consumption. Winter teas attract attention with their immune system strengthening, digestive regulating and stress reducing properties (Smith & Brown, 2022).
2. Chemical Components and Health Effects of Winter Teas
Winter teas contain a wide range of bioactive components thanks to the natural herbs they contain. Each of these plants has different health benefits.
2.1. Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
- Chemical Components: Contains active ingredients such as gingerol, shogaol, zingerone.
- Benefits: It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Ginger alleviates cold and flu symptoms by strengthening the immune system (Williams et al., 2023).
- Workplace Use: Ginger tea is especially recommended to boost the immunity of busy workers.
2.2. Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum)
- Chemical Components: Contains cinnamaldehyde, eugenol and coumarin.
- Benefits: Thanks to its antibacterial and antifungal properties, it provides protection against infections. It also regulates blood sugar levels (Kim & Lee, 2020).

3. Benefits of Winter Tea Consumption in Workplaces
3.1. Strengthening the Immune System
Employees whose immune system weakens during the cold winter months become more susceptible to diseases. Winter teas strengthen the body's defense against infections thanks to the antioxidants they contain (Özkan & Yıldırım, 2023). Keeping winter teas among hot drinks in workplaces can improve the health status of employees.
3.2. Reducing Stress and Improving Mood
Busy work schedules can increase workers' stress levels. Herbs such as chamomile and lemon balm are effective in coping with stress by calming the nervous system. Regular consumption of these teas can improve the overall mood at work and increase employee motivation (Aydın, 2022).
3.3. Effects on the Digestive System
Inactivity in the working environment can lead to digestive problems. Herbs such as ginger and fennel support digestion and reduce problems such as bloating and indigestion (Kara, 2021).
4. Methodology
This study analyzes the effects of winter teas on health and productivity in workplaces through a literature review and case studies. A survey conducted in 50 enterprises operating in different sectors in Turkey in 2022-2023 examined the relationship between employees' consumption of winter teas and sickness absence rates.
5. Findings
6. Discussion and Conclusion
Regular consumption of winter teas supports employee health and increases productivity in the workplace. Promoting natural supportive methods in workplaces contributes positively to occupational health and safety policies. Especially for individuals working in closed environments, supporting their immunity with natural methods such as winter teas can increase workplace productivity.
7. Recommendations
- Workplaces can offer winter tea to employees free of charge.
- Trainings should be organized to raise awareness of employees about herbal supports.
- Natural support methods should be integrated into occupational health and safety policies.
